The Certificate of Work Readiness is designed to prepare people for the world of work - bringing more value to employers.

Businesses provide an individual with several weeks of work experience – with free support from a local training provider.

Their performance is then assessed as part of an Scottish Qualifications Authority qualification.

This means your company or organisation can:

  • Tailor the work placement to your business needs
  • Develop your potential future workforce

Vijay's experience in financial services

Portobello teenager Vijay Singh, 17, approached training provider Limelight Careers, looking for a start in the world of work.

Through the Certificate of Work Readiness Scheme, Limelight Careers arranged a work placement at the Edinburgh financial services company Scotia Wealth Management.

He impressed his supervisors and has been kept on to complete his Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administration.

"Vijay is very enthusiastic - he picks up all the tasks brilliantly so we just kept giving him more responsibility. He has user tested and improved our business processes. He’s also produced management information spreadsheets which allow our managing director to monitor commission levels and return on investment."
Jacqueline Molloy, Scotia Wealth Management
