Supporting young people with barriers to employment into apprenticeship opportunities
Open Doors Consortium Enhanced Modern Apprenticeship Support Package is funded by the Scottish Government to raise the profile of young people with barriers to employment within the Scottish workforce.
Over the past year (17/18), Open Doors Consortium Scotland has supported 20 young people with barriers to employment to gain access to a Modern Apprenticeship. Due to the success and need for further support, funding has been granted to support a further 60 young people across Scotland to gain and sustain Modern Apprenticeships.
The aim of the Enhanced Modern Apprenticeship Support Package is to increase the volume of young people with disabilities, long term health conditions inclusive of mental health and other barriers such care leavers, ex-offenders and young carers into sustainable apprenticeship opportunities. The wider aim is to broaden diversity within Modern Apprentices in order to enable those facing barriers to access these opportunities with support.
