The Digital Technology Skills Group and Equate Scotland have developed a best practice guide to support employers to attract, recruit and retain more women into tech jobs.

The gender gap in digital technology is vast, affecting most companies in the Scottish technology sector. With only 18% of workers in technology being women, Scotland’s economy and labour market are missing out on the talents, creativity and ideas of a diverse workforce. But it doesn’t need to be that way.

Sharing best practice: making a positive difference

Tackling the Technology Gender Gap Together: Best Practice Guide sets out key interventions employers can make from school right the way through to women returning to work. These interventions are examples of what we need across Scotland to make a real difference to the number of girls and women interested in a future in tech, but it won’t happen without all employers taking action.

To accompany the guide, ICT and digital employers from across Scotland have shared their best practice in a series of videos.

How to use the guide

The guide comes with case studies, recommendations and evidence to help you create a business proposal for your organisation. There's also worksheets to help you evaluate your gender equality work so far and help on what to do next. The guide is filled with everything you need to take action; the only missing element is you.
